Ron's Notes:
=======================
Even though this is a keyboard part, I found that this section of the song:
Cm D# D#/A Cm
Drifting away, for the bent of the flesh is to stray
Sounds good when played using the Root 5 bar chords like this:
Cm D# D#/A Cm
---3----------------------3-----------3-----------3----------------------
---4----------------------4-----------4-----------4----------------------
---5----------------------3-----------3-----------5----------------------
---5----------------------5-----------5-----------5----------------------
---3--------------3---5---6-----------5-----------3----------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the left hand finger positioning I use for this section of the main
solo. Starting off with the third finger. It makes it easier to nail that
last C# note at the end of a fast run.
3 3 2 3 1 2 4 4 3 1 4 1 2 4 2 4 2 1 2 1 2 1 3 1 4
---------------------11-10-8---------------------------------------------
----------9---8-9-11---------11----8-9-11--9-11-9-8-9--8h9p8-------------

Livgren has such a fantastic comprehension of musical notes. The last note
of the ending solo (an open 3rd string) just rings... and he possibly is
lightly tapping the 12th fret of the 3rd string - giving the note a slight
harmonic tone while it rings out over top the Gm chord. He manages to get
a finger squeaking sound on the strings as well, as he switches between the
final notes. This is easily accomplished on a wound 3rd string. (But of
course, I don't have a wound 3rd string on my Strat!). So, that throws in
the possibility of using the 4th string for the ending notes. Hmmmm. I guess
this is all open to interpretation. Isn't it great?
