This song brought a tear to my eyes the first time I heard it...I think it
is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard. I don't have the chords
down exact and I don't "do" tab...sitting here without a guitar I will try
to throw something on to the screen which should get you moving in the
right direction:
As man (Am) for man (Dm) was made (E) a curse (E/G#)...
the claims(Am) of laws which He had made (Dm) (then notes D, E, F,)...
Unto (F) the utermost (G) He paid (E7/G#)...
His (C) holy fingers (G) made the boughs (C)...
That grew (C) the thorns that crown (F) His brow...
The nails (Dm) that pierced (Dm/C) His hands (Esus) were mine (E)...
in secret (Asus) places He designed (A)...
He made (Dm) the forrest (Dm/C) whence (G) there sprung...
the tree (C) on which (C/B) His body (Am) hung...
He died (Dm) upon (Dm/C) a cross (Dm/B) of wood (E)...
Yet made (E7) the hill on which it stood (A)...
What a tear jerker! :-) hey, sorry I don't have a guitar handy. I'm sure
there are some mistakes in the chords/lyrics, etc., but I'm hopeful it
will get someone pointed in the right direction to where they can work out
the details, etc.
Best to you all,
Cheers,

Here's the version (slightly lower) from the 1990 songbook.
G | F2 | EbM7 | Dsus D | F | Eb | F(no3) Gm | Eb
As man (Gm) for man (Cm7) was made (D7) a curse (D7/F#)
The claims(Gm) of law (Gm/Bb) which He had made (Eb6)
unto the (Fsus) uttermost (F) He paid (F#dim7)
His (Gm) holy fingers (F/A) made (Bb) the bough
which (Dm7)grew the thorns that (EbM7)crown His brow
The (Cm)nails that (Cm/Bb) pierced His hands (Cm/A) were mined (D7)
in (D7/G)secret places He designed (G)
He (Cm)made (Cm/Bb) the forrest whence (F/A) there sprung (F)
the tree (Bb) (F/A)on which His (Gm) body hung
He (Cm) died upon (Cm/Bb) a cross (Cm/A) of wood (D7)
The sky that darkened o'er His head
by Him above the earth was spread.
The sun that hid from Him its face,
by His decree was poised in space.
The spear which spilled His precious blood
was tempered in the fires of God.
The grave in which His form was laid
was hewn in rocks His hands had made.
The throne on which He now appears
was His from everlasting years.
But a new glory crowns His brow
and ev'ry know to Him shall bow.
Then end:
